SAFEGUARDING POLICY

The Moravian Church in Western Tanzania (Kanisa la Moravian Tanzania Magharibi) holds the protection and flourishing of every person as a sacred duty given to us by God. We believe that all people are created in the image of God and are therefore entitled to respect, dignity, and safety.

We are unequivocally committed to creating and maintaining safe environments for all, especially for children, young people, and vulnerable adults who participate in our congregations, programmes, and activities.

Our Core Principles

This policy is founded on the following principles:

•The welfare of the child, young person, or vulnerable adult is paramount.
•All individuals, regardless of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, or belief, have the right to protection from all forms of harm and abuse.
•Safeguarding is the responsibility of every member, employee, and volunteer of the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania.
•We will work in an open and transparent way that promotes accountability and trust.

Scope of this Policy

This policy applies to all who work, minister, or volunteer in the name of the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania, including but not limited to: pastors, evangelists, church council members, Sunday school teachers, youth leaders, project staff, and all members of our congregations.

Our Pledge

To uphold this commitment, the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania pledges to:

Prevent Harm

Carefully recruit, train, and support all those in positions of trust, implementing clear procedures and codes of conduct.

Report & Respond

Establish clear and accessible reporting procedures so that concerns can be raised safely and confidentially. We will respond swiftly and robustly to any allegation or suspicion of abuse.
